Classical Guitar

Here at General Marshall, the Guitar Program offers students a structured learning approach to playing guitar. Skills like note reading, rhythm, and performing in a multi-part ensemble is taught. Students will learn to play single notes, chords, scales, and melodies, gradually advancing to more complex pieces with multiple parts. Guitar class emphasizes developing specific classical guitar styles, which may differ from other genres by focusing on written scores rather than tablature.

Students in the Guitar Program participate in numerous concerts throughout the year, district events such as the AISD All-City Guitar Concert, Region Guitar, and many more. Advanced students in Guitar participate in the Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation process held in the Spring.
